Fishing Spots

Nam Mun down in your neck of the woods is reputedly one of the top fishing spots in Los..

Have read and heard reports of good catches using both lure and fly..

There are many species in these waterways, from Pla Nin which the Thais use the multi hook berley baskets to catch up to the Tiger and Giant Snakeheads which are predators and grow to 40kg and which are one of the finest table fish to come out of fresh water.

Most Thai tackle shops carry fishing magazines and the tackle and pics are self explanatory(text requires the help of your better half if your Thai is as bad as mine.

There was a TV member used to have lots of success in your area ,in fact he talked of starting a fishing tours biz, but I think he moved to Hua Hin,but a search might dig up his posts...

If you are truly a "sit on the bank under a tree" type fisherman.....here's the technique I recommend.

1. While buying your Leo, buy a bag of medium size fish pellets (fish food), a small bag of rice bran (made from rice hulls)and a bag of potting clay (used in the pots to plant water lillies).

2. After you find your tree on the side of the lake.........mix the fish pellets, rice bran and potting clay together (adding a little water to keep the mixture pliable). More clay than hulls or pellets so it will form a ball of clay loaded with the pellets and bran. Once this is done throw into the water where you intend to fish. It will attract fish.

3. If using a local fiberglass pole.......rig the line to be the same length of the pole. Add a float, a small weight and medium black colored hook (they don't like silver).

3. Bait that hook with pieces of prawn or a worm or whatever you can find. You can even use one of the fish pellets in your mixture once it is softened a little.

4. Now just wait, drink, and scratch your antbites.

Good luck!
