Petch01 Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 That's not a Nuvi 200. The Nuvi 200 doesn't have a foldable antenna. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=9160# Petch01

lawling Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 That looks like my Nuvi 660. Incidentally, I have started to be aware of a lot of mistakes particularly around Bangkok to Pattaya and the situation will obviously become more out of date when/if the new road is finished. Does anyone know what the position is re updates?
g00dgirl Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Where can you buy a Nuvi 660 in Thailand? Does any dealer have it? The ESRI website doesn't list it on their product page. I would prefer one a 660 for the bigger display (480 x 272 pixels as opposed to 320 x 240 pixels on Nuvi 200 and 310) and for the FM transmitter that the Nuvi 200 and 310 don't have.

Email these and ask, there in BKK <a href="http://www.gadgetrend.com/gps_spi2.php" target="_blank">http://www.gadgetrend.com/gps_spi2.php</a> They have the StreetPilot 7200's huge 7-inch touch-screen display means you'll always see where you're going - from anywhere in the vehicle

Does anyone know what the position is re updates? Straight from ESRI Bangkok: If you check and find that your map is Thailand City Navigator V.7. This is the latest map, and our company will launch the end of this year. I will keep your email, when we have update map I will inform you. So looks like latest revision due out at the end of this Year
Gary A Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Ive been looking at a lot of reviews and the Nuvi 660 is getting the best in class ratings. The only thing not liked about the 660 is the price.

The only thing not liked about the 660 is the price. My thinking is the same as you. Although I'm familiar with Garmin products, I noticed in Pantip that 'MIO' units are also sold here in Los. The spec is higher and the price is lower than comparable Garmin items. I'v been quoted a TRADE price of 15400k for a wide screen with bluetooth and plenty of other gizmo's. BUT, and a big BUT what I dont know is how good the maps/reception is ???? Any idea's/knowledge will be gratefully recieved before i spend my Baht!!
Hssl Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Just got a garmin nuvi 200 in Tuk Com Pattaya for 14,700 inc vat - Brillant bit of kit that yesterday & today guided me round Bangkok and back home again with out any of the normal dramas!

The only thing not liked about the 660 is the price. That would be fair comment. It wasn't cheap. But it is an excellent gadget in most respects. The major turn-off is the terrible pronunciation of Thai place names. I mentioned this on an earlier thread and a couple of people responded saying that they turned off the sound because they too found it annoying.

I have a 2610 Street Pilot and at first I thought the voice was great. At this point I have the voice turned off and don't miss it at all. The display on the Street Pilot tells you how far it is to the next turn and when the turn shows on the screen it is hard to miss. I also have an eTrex Legend CX. It is a great little unit but the display is just too small. It has no voice but beeps instead. Garmin's competition suffers from the poor maps that are available. Nokia has purchased Navtech map makers so that may be remedied but not for a while yet. As far as I can see Garmin has no competition at this point. Unless you are willing to wait for better maps, you will have to settle for a Garmin.
katom Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 General question , Is there a system that can install in my car and connect to server that will tell me where is the car (in case of somebody steal my car..)? I know have this sytem in my country but dont know if there's a company that give this service here.. *same this company: http://web.sadna.co.il/ituran/website/home/index.html
Hssl Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I saw a system in Tuk Com in Pattaya in the Large Top floor computer shop - sorry didn't get the price or brand name.

I know have this sytem in my country but dont know if there's a company that give this service here.. *same this company: http://web.sadna.co.il/ituran/website/home/index.html There are two types. One you can hide in the car and then take it out and download the information as to where the car has been. Useless for theft prevention. That type is not too expensive. The other type is a GPS tracker and you can see where the car is at all the time from your computer at home. Those are expensive and I think they require a service contract. Since they work off the satellite system I'd say they are probably available here but I have not seen them. This type is commonly used by trucking companies to see where their trucks are. (And spy on their drivers).
