Been on the lookout for a good quality gas oven, stand alone [not drop in], 24" wide, with a decent thermostat and thermometer, stainless or good quality enamel.

Have owned a local whirlpool make and it has lasted 4 yrs and was a piece of garbage from day i got it...no good insulation and thermometer only reads hot, med andlow. got myself a proper oven thermometer and checked the highest temp and it was only 275 f....not enough to cook a chicken, bake bread, pizza or much else.

have seen the elba and faggor and may consider one of those unless someone warns me against.

any recomendations???

Agree, Fagor, also Smeg has some nice ovens. Either are not cheap. I have a counter top DeLonghi convection that I also really like, but DeLonghi does not have large ones. Also their local service is not very good.

I'd recommend a combo gas and electric, with gas burners and an electric oven. Of course, that's what the Fagor one is, with an option of three gas burners and one electric burner instead of 4 gas burners. Electric ovens are better for baking, with steadier temperature controls.

I just bought an Electrolux model range, being delivered Saturday. We'll see how I like it once I have it in my kitchen and use it. 24 inch wide, stainless, etc. Not cheap by any standard, for sure.

If you are in BKK visit the Boonthawavon Ceramics store on Rachada Road just after the Suttisarn Intersection (500m from Suttisarn Police station). They have every conceivable make & model in all price brackets on display instore.

Cheers,

Soundman.
