Neeranam
What's the best way to get a big sweetie out a kids throat?
Maestro
If the air passage is completely blocked, ie the child is choking to death: Heimlich Manoeuvre. If the child can still breath, give it a warm liquid to drink slowly, to dissolve the candy. -- Maestro
Tammi
I saw my sis-in-law, a nurse, turn her child upside down and and whack the child's back. But the child was still small enough to turn upside down. I also saw this same sis-in-law follow my father when he quietly got up from the dinner table and go out of the room. She realized he was in trouble with food stuck in his throat. Good lady to have around! Edited November 10, 2007 by Tammi

Taught me a couple of lessons: 1, properly chew small amounts of food especially. for some reasom or other, spinach and cabbage (!) and 2, be aware that someone who gets up from the table and does't look relaxed/comfortable/cheerful might be having a problem.
