Hey Folks,

Can someone please clarify for me the countries that can get a 30 + 30 extension on a 30 day tourist Visa. Some countries that were previously given a 60 + 30 on a Tourist Visas are now given 30 + 30 for a total of 90 days. Is that correct? Are there any links to this information? I've heard that there is no problem with this in Phuket Immigration. Just wanted to confirm again before I head over there on Friday.

Nationals of countries which are on Thailand’s Tourist Visa Exemption list or have bilateral agreements on visa exemption with Thailand will be permitted to stay on a tourist visa for a period of not exceeding 60 days. Nationals from other countries who hold a tourist visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 30 days. A 30 day extension can be requested by all nationalities.

Kemkem, there is a category of nationals who get a 30 day tourist visa instead of 60 and I

think as you say, are eligible for two consecutive 30 day extensions. I also can't find the list

anywhere, and I can usually dig that stuff up. Might be best to go by the Phuket immigration

office a few days early and just ask. Maybe there are other extra documents they need also. :o

After looking around some more I did find some information but it appears to be very dated which

isn't helpful. You mentioned in your other post that while you had a U.S. residence card, they had

given you a 30 day tourist visa based on your country of origin. Might really be a good idea to go

by immigration early. They have been getting wacky with these extensions for everyone.

I don't think they recognize a US residence card. I know that Canada does, and maybe Mexico and some of the Carribean nations.

If you are a US permenant resident, it does not matter, you are not a citizen of the US and are processed according to the country of your citizenship.

Thanks everyone. I'll let you all know how it goes on Friday. My 30 day permission to stay actually runs out on Nov 28th, but I'm going to immigration on Friday. Thanks everyone.

That category is listed above in conjunction with the link to the MFA dated 2007. AFAIK and can see referenced only one extension is allowed on a tourist visa no matter whether the initial permission was for 30 days or 60 days.

However under "tourist visa" it says this about extensions

EXTENSION OF STAY

Those who wish to stay longer or may wish to change their type of visa must file an application for permission at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Soi Suan Plu, off South Sathorn Road, Bangkok 10120 , Tel 02 287-3101-10 (or at http://www.immigration.go.th ). The extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer..

So you can rely on "discretion"!

Hey Folks,

I was only given a 7 day extension of my Tourist Visa with my Nigerian passport. I guess there is a special requirement for people with a Nigerian passport. Not too sure what other options I may have. Thanks for all the input.

Cheers!

Sorry about that Kemkem, on the immigration.go.th website under tourist visa extension

they have this information (below). But it's probably two years old so I wasn't sure. I

guess you can always go apply for another tourist visa at the usual locations. :o

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Foreigners applying for the first time for an extension of stay are given a 30 day extension

from the date of expiry of the original admission, except for citizens of Sri Lanka, India,

Pakistan, Iran, Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Togo, and Uganda, whose application for extension

of stay will not be approved and the applicants are ordered to leave the kingdom within seven days."

Believe you are asking what is the max extension of stay you might receive on a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp and the answer is 7 days.
