She had a man with her who i am guessing was her driver holding a basket and she would tell him what she wanted as she walked down the isles.

Do you think she had a cold and was preventing the spread of germs, was she trying to avoid catching germs from the other people in grocery store, or was this some sort of social gesture?

I know the type of women he's talking about. His brief description of her instantly brought an image to my mind. It's funny how these 'hiso' women seem to stick out but the men don't. The hiso thing really is just a fashion statement for withering old monied women who are seen by the masses as useless. There were people like them in the west but they are extremely hard to find nowadays. You can see a whole lot of them decked out in silks singing on Thai TV at around 4am or so. That old Australian lady on the moring English-laguage talk show on Thai TV is one of their western clones.

The people who seem to have the worst attitudes towards cleanliness where i live are the countless farangs who seem to think a Beer Chang muscleshirt is the height of fashion and who believe their hairy backs are somehow immune to body odour.

When i entered a 7/11 the other month i noticed a very fat lazy looking staff member picking & rubbing her fingers over the open hot dogs that were rolling & cooking directly under her mits.I gave a look at the hot dogs & then her,which i'm sure she noticed,but the seasoning of the porkers continued.

Still those dogs are probably all ears,noses,& a holes,so whats a bit of 7/11 staff finger dust to worry about.
