My hus and I are here on a 2-month tourist visa, after which we will obtain the 30-day extension for a total of 90 days. But, he's been asked to return to America for 1 week due to work sometime in Dec./Jan. Is this allowed, since it will mean re-entry? Who do we see, what should we do?

If he will return from the US before his current 60 day permitted to stay until expires he can obtain a re-entry permit prior to leaving to keep that date alive and on return enter that information on the arrival card and get stamped in to the same date he has now. Then he could extend the normal 30 days. Cost is 1,000 baht and must be obtained prior to travel.

If not and he has a ticket out of Thailand within 30 days of arrival he can obtain the normal 30 day visa exempt entry at airport. If no ticket out or more than 30 days he should obtain a new tourist visa.
