Gps Maps

Since Garmin now offers the complete Thailand map on a micro memory card for $119, I thought I'd send an email to Gadget Trend to see if anything is new there. I got a reply that they will now sell the whole of Thailand ESRI map for 7,000 baht. Still not cheap but better than 12,000 baht. Unfortunately you still can't use the map on your home computer. They send you a CD with the map file on it that you then transfer to the GPS unit with your computer. You get one free update within one year. Updates after that are 1,500 baht.

Rotweiler maps can be used on your home computer and it is great to be able to find waypoints and create your own routes at home on your PC that can then be transfered with a couple of mouse clicks. I was surprised to see a Laos and Cambodia map available from Rotweiler. The Cambodia map looks quite good but the Laos map looks to still have some rough edges. The updates from Rotweiler are free and you are entitled to get all the maps they offer for the $100 "donation".
