Nationwide + Bradford & Bingley Accounts

I also mentioned that shurely this was unusual and not standard pratice by Banks/B.Soc.but she replied that WE know you.......long time customer....&..thats it....

What I will do however is to double check with their HEAD Office and see wot they say...... :D

Hi Rinrada

Well done mate , you are obviously a better customer than me :o:D (or you owe em money)

I think its a good idea to double check, like you suggested and make sure you speak to a supervisor or preferably a Manager at Card Services/Head Office. If I were you, I would politely but forcefully ask for a letter confirming the above, as it will be impossible to sort out once you have departed for 'The Land of Piles'

IF you later get a situation where they backtrack on arrangements, you can then refer them to Mr *** letter at Head Office and that you are also an influential poster (or poser!) in the worlds largest Ex-pat website (BS in other words).

Good Luck

Dave

Don't intend to call anyone a lier, but just tend to put more faith in the actual facts & experiences than theoretical nonsense & promises aka confirmations about future probabilities LOL :-)

So to clarify my situation I can say that I originally opened my accounts & credit cards on line thus my branch is some Swindon HQ 'internet branch' whatever (0570) if that would perhaps make a difference to certain more restrictive minor branches? Just a though...

Basically what we have here is a claim one side that UK banks & particularly building societies are not supposed to serve non resident and/or non British customers e.g. by sending expired cards to their overseas resident postal addresses & on the other hand we have several examples like me & others who are testimony to the contrary.

Thus what the point to keep saying this is simply not supposed to be possible since it clearly is possible.

Perhaps the only thing worth further discussing is which criterion decides whether they'll do it or not i.e. how to become a trusted/valued customer?

From my side I may add I was only resident in UK the first 18months or so of my NW relationship, but during that time I used the NW as my primary & sole bank for both salary account & extensive travel credit card usage.

Since then I changed my overseas address about 10 times (can't remember exactly, but yes I work as freelance consultant & move a lot!!) & since I had rarely a problem & haven't come across better banking conditions than NW I'll obviously continue using NW - well as long as they'll allow me or until I finally find a better bank or the GBP goes down ;-)

By the way does anyone know when NW will start offering EUR accounts & whether those will offer credit cards in EUR also? Supposedly all banks within EU has to do that from Jan08???

Hi worldfun

Check out Nationwide International website, they have had Euro accounts for years (as do HSBC International-gr8 service too!). The down side is, as ex-pats recieve a specialist sevice, there are charges/minimum balance requirements for doing things that a 'High St' branch will not (or should not :D ) do.

Good Luck

Dave (BTW I didnt work for them either :o)
