Older Pleated Suit Pants - Can A Tailor Modify These?

Featured Replies

I have some old suits that I had made about seven years ago here. There are really nice tropical wool. But ...I had them put in pleats (i asked for one, they put 2 if I recall correctly) which are now very out of style. I may now need these suits and considering they are new do not want to buy another.

Anyway... Can the pleats be taken out by a quality taylor? When I was in states I had taken them to a Korean tailor but she wouldn't touch them (maybe just have to chg me too much?).

Can it be done? Will they look good? Someone to do the job?

What might be a good idea is to take the suits to 3 different tailors and see what they say.

But it's just an idea.

It's a fairly simple job if the cloth is plain but if there is any pattern, stripe or check it will put the trouser out of kilter. Also it's not a small job if doen correctly as the whole pocket area will need to be re-cut.

If you have it done in Thailand it should not be too costly but elsewhere you might be better waiting till you are here.

double pleats are out of style? What happened?!

not totally out, just not the fashion item of the year and not 'good' for slimmer men but ok for heavier guys.
