Where would you go in order to obtain an ED visa?

Vietnam (HCMC, Hanoi)

Cambodia (Phnom Penh)

Malaysia (Penang, KL)

What would be your choice (or maybe already have been your choice) if you wanted to spend 2 or 3 nice days having good food, doing some sightseeing and enjoying some nightlife and on the other hand having a pretty smooth visa experience at the embassy/consulate?

I wouldn't risk Phnom Penh.

I went there with all the documentation for an ED visa and handed it in to the clerk who was happy.

Next afternoon came back early because I had a flight later on and was one of the first in line.

My number was called, I went to the window with my slip and was told to sit back down.

After sitting for what seemed like an eternity watching dozens of people people come and go I was left with 2 other foreigners. All the clerks had left and the guard had even turned off the lights!

Now there we were left without any passports and my flight was fast approaching

We told the guard we had no passports and he got on the phone to someone who eventually made his way down looking not too happy.

We were summoned up to the counter one by one and given a mini interview on what we were doing in Thailand etc etc and told not to come back for any more visas as this embassy was for Cambodian people only.

We all recieved the visas but he wrote on the visas that this would be the last one issued in Phnom Penh.

Made the flight but was sweating a bit.

right off the bat eliminate Cambo based on past negative reports.

KL is reasonably good as I have gotten tourist visa's there in the past and witnessed people getting Non Imm B's and ED visa's.

Of late there have been a few more negative reports from Penang. So in Malaysia I would lean toward KL as being your best bet.

Vietnam does not have a lot of reports on TV. I have read of people getting TV's in Hanoi but you should call them to inquire if they would entertain an application.

Singapore might be another option allthough the lodging costs are more than KL
