Contacted For A Job Interview By Thaivisa Board Member

Featured Replies

A person with the username "Megg" sent me a PM requesting my resume for a job in BKK. They then called me on Wednesday and arranged an interview at the Hyatt Erawan Hotel in Bangkok for that evening. "Megg" claimed to be the secretary of a "Dr Wei" who was supposed to interview me. I explained that I would be travelling from Sriracha which is 2 hours away and she apologised for the last minute arrangment but went on to explain that Dr Wei was flying from Singapore and that was the only time he had free. When answering the call, the phone number was witheld. Judging by that and her accent I assumed she was calling from Singapore. She provided both a Thai and Singapore contact number for him.

Upon arrival at the hotel, I made an enquiry with reception but they could not help as there were so many different guests with the name "Wei" I called his Thai number which was turned off. I then called the Singapore number which was answered by a Dr Wei who was in Singapore and said that he didn't know me or have any idea what I was talking about. I have since emailed "Megg" for an explaination, but no response. Be aware there is a member on here with the username "DrWei" who has also requested my resume in the past, but after answering some questions of his in relation to salary requirements I never heard from him again.

lambous, can you please email support (at) thaivisa.com with this? Admin should know about this.

Thanks, I have emailed support.

Important lesson here - dont give any personal information to contacts met online, no matter how well you think you may know them. There are a lot of conmen/women and dysfunctional nutters hanging around the net with false identitys.

eg my real name is not Mr pointiofview

I hope you didn't give them your bank account details so they could deposit the travel expenses!

Sorry to hear about your situation and thanks for the warning.

The word gullible springs to mind. I hope you've learned your lesson.

Neither Megg nor DrWei appear to have been highly active members, although Megg only joined on the 17 December (last Monday) and by Wednesday (19th) the OP was already on his way to an interview? I mentioned gullible earlier, surely even that's an understatement.

I see that Megg has two friends Richard84 & Fragolina.

I see that this matter is now being dealt with directly by administration. Thanks to Lambous for having brought it to their attention.
