Just wondering what would be the norm to give the maid at Christmas, I gave her 1k bht last year, this year will be 500bht and perhaps the elbow at easter, Happy Xmas all, Lickey,,

I give the floor/building cleaning ladies 1000 or so baht each and the guards 500 - 1000 baht each. I live in an apartment building though.

Have never had a maid in this life so cannot answer to that but previously I stayed in some bungalows for many months and would give the staff, about 4 or 5 as I remember, 1000B each at this time of year.

One thing I never have been called, is cheap. But giving christmas present/bonus to a Buddhist?

So the maids, staff, securities, etc expect it? Just as they do back home?

If this is the norm, I certenly will start doing it as well.

This is not just about x'mas, it is about New Year thing/presents. Yeah, to my house maids we have given them one bath gold chain each every year plus a lil things (outfit, bags so and so) they have been with us forever and they are more like one of our family.

To give those apt. maids, I think 1000 bth is reasonable.
