srs Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 I just wanted to book a standard room at the Cititel Penang for my coming visa run in the second week of 2008. I read a lot about this hotel and about people fighting over the prices in this forum. People were stating prices of up to 3000 baht. Then I came across this website https://www.rsvn2u.com/ReservationCTP/Booking801.aspx The price quoted is about MYR 130 which is about EUR 27 or USD 39 or THB 1181. Now I wonder if this booking website might be a fraud. Considering what people wrote about the prices of this hotel this seems to be too cheap. On the other hand this page is linked to by www.cititelpenang.com. And the same website states the price for a standard twin as MYR 360. Even if you deduct the price for the breakfast from this amount ... what is going on here? What is all the heck about this hotel. Seems to be good-priced. Try to get something decent for 1200 Baht in Bangkok. Anybody already used this website successfully? Is that real or a fraud?
The Professor Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 try clicking the link you gave. the price is 320 baht per night
tropo Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 try clicking the link you gave. the price is 320 baht per night It's actually 320 Ringgit per night.
srs Posted December 26, 2007 Author Posted December 26, 2007 (edited) That is what I did of course. I am not talking about the suite but about the standard room. Have a look at my screenshot. To the left you can see the prices per night, to the right the total. So the question still is: Did anybody use this website for booking? Fraud or not? Edited December 26, 2007 by srs
torrenova Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 OK, Cititel used to be quoted at about MYR260 per night on their website http://www.cititelpenang.com/pg_tariff.html and they were discounted 50% for internet bookings. that discount seems to have evaporated in the last XYZ months and they currently quote a minimum of MYR330. Interestingly, these rates are not date specific and thus, cannot be taken as accurate. The hotel is OK at MYR150 or so but not at MYR300+. I suggest its popularily has increased through visa runs to Penang but I would expect to be able to get it cheaper from another source.
torrenova Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 That source above https://www.rsvn2u.com/ReservationCTP/Booking801.aspx is showing as low as MYR115 which is fine for that hotel.
