Dstv From South Africa

Featured Replies

I currently subscribe to DSTV from South Africa, using a 2 metre dish.

I'll be moving to BKK next month and I know the C-Band signal will reach.

I'll be bringing the decoder box and SIM, but I will need to buy a new dish, LNB, installation, etc.

2 questions:

Is JSAT.com a reliable company?

Is it easy to find apartment buildings who will allow roof access for the dish instalation?

Thanks in advance.

Twin

My guess is that for the right amount of Baht, you can

do it if no city permit is needed. (Install an antenna)

But I am curious how a satellite footprint for S Africa

will also be seen in Thailand ??

Even C band coverage is not that wide.

Are you sure your SA provider can deliver signal here

in LOS ??

Hi paulfr.

I'm currently in Taiwan and the c-band signal works just fine here. When I first learned the signal reached here, I was just as surprised as you.

BKK is much closer, and I know several bars are using this service, so I'm not worried about coverage.

Only worried about finding a reputable installer and an apartment building which allows roof access.

Thanks for your reply.

Hi Twin,

I used JSAT to install my system about 18 months ago and they were excellent - I've also had a couple of problemns with the decoder which Jon fixed for me at no cost. They are based in a sub Soi off Sukhumvit 65 so I suggest that you go over and meet them.

That said they e-mailed me a couple of weeks ago to say that they had heard that the South African feed was about to end as at 31st May this year so you might want to check this out - if it's true I will be gutted as it's just fantastic for all the major sporting events
