Best Place To Renew Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

My little brother is here for a gap year visit, having lots of fun, making lots of friends. His Thai is better than mine which really annoys me.

He entered Thailand with a tourist visa, extended to 90 days, and has made to two border runs for 30-day VOAs.

We are planning a family trip to Malaysia, so he figured he'd get a new 60-day tourist visa in KL or Penang. But I have heard bad things about renewing visas in Penang, so wondering if KL is better or maybe he should skip Malaysia and go to Vientiene or elsewhere.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

KL would probably be OK.

It seems he has only one TR ... you don't tell me where he got it from. Anyway, it's less than 2 visas, so Penang is also probably OK. I would even prefer Penang to KL, because it's much smaller and it's easier to get around. Plus you can use an agent in Georgetown. Don't know if that is possible in KL.

There's actually not so much to do in Penang, but first time visitors can always fill the time with the tourist attractions like Penang Hill and Snake Temple.

Thanks for the replies.

Sniffdog, he got the original TR in Canada.

We actually like Penang a lot and were planning to go there regardless. Just wondered if it would be easier to take a side trip to KL.

Edited to ask what advantage an agent would be in Penang.

Offsets the tax fare - they are not going to obtain a visa that you can not obtain yourself.

Saves you the bother of going if you are too lazy to go yourself.

personally, why leave your visa status in the hands of someone else.?

I know others disagree.

Heading to Singapore next week, going to get a tourist visa since I am there, anyone have any word on how Singapore is for this?

Cheers
