News articles published today appear to suggest that the government is currently drafting revisions to the Labor Law to allow foreign national workers from Free Trade Areas (which currently include Australia, Bahrain, China and India) to more easily [read, legally] work here. Included as a part of these proposed revisions is a plan to allow workers from FTA countries to work in areas that are otherwise prescribed "reserved occupations" [for Thai nationals] (for example: architects, farmers and lawyers). Exactly how these revisions may be implemented, without Thailand falling foul of its other international treaty obligations, remains to be seen.

Anyhow if you are a so-called "professional" from an FTA nation, this could prove to be an interesting development.
