How Long Will Iget When I Return From Laos?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am 62 y Belgian, retired, deposited 800K in thai bank

I have a one year visa type "O", multiple journey(S) must be used before 29/12/2007. Emabssy TH in BRU told me that means, if I leave TH just before 29/12/2007, I would get extension untill 28/03/2008.

But:

I left Thailand every time before end of 90 day period to Lao for a week or two, came back and got renewal for 90 days.

Last time I went to Laos, reentered Thailand on 22 nov 2007, got extension untill 19 feb 08.

Question: I want to go to Laos again for one two weeks, before 19 feb 08. What happens when I come back? Will I get no extension, another 90 days, or only untill 28/03/08. My plan is to leave TH for Belgium around 9 march.

Question: What is the idea behind getting an "O" visa for 1 year and seeing it changed into "Non O", every time I reenter?

Thanks a lot

1. There is no such thing as "O" visa - it is a non immigrant O visa (Non O).

2. Your visa has expired - to leave Thailand and keep your current permitted to stay of 19 Feb 2008 your will have to obtain a re-entry permit at 1,000 baht prior to travel; or plan to obtain a tourist visa while in Laos and use that for your next entry (probably best if you do not intend to leave until March.

Hello

How can my visa have expired, I have a samp in my passport: Admitted untill 19 Feb 2008?

2. I understand as: I go to Laos, and upon coming back into Thailand, I will obtain a new re-entry permit at the border against 1000 THB? How long will that be valid?

Thanks a lot

1. You said in your post it had expired "must be used before 29/12/2007". You are here on a permitted to stay stamp - your visa expired in December and you can not enter the country again using it.

2. To keep your current stamp date alive you would have to obtain a re-entry permit prior to any travel (before travel). If you do not do this the only thing you can get at the border would be a 30 day visa exempt entry stay (if you are from a country allowed that).

3. As your current permitted to stay will not take you to the date you plan to leave it would be best for you to obtain a tourist visa from Vientiane during your visit and come back using that for longer possible stay.

Your visa

must be used before 29/12/2007.

Your visa is not valid any longer. It expired 29 DEC 2007. You will get 30 days on arrival to Thailand.
