Recommended Posts

Hi has anyone brought a cat from the UK into Thailand at bangkok at the new airport recently? How hard was it, did you just walk straight through customs or did you have to stop, any problems? How hard is it

Cheers

Brought 3 cats here from the U.S. a few years ago in the old airport. The kennel was already by the baggage claim when I arrived. Took them to animal quarantine to show the health cert, vaccinations etc. and then left the airport. Only took a few minutes. No problems. But I did make sure I had all the proper paperwork before bringing them here. Imagine the new airport would be the same.

I brought my cat over in July 07 -Eva Airways from Heathrow. Arrived 3pm. Mid-week.I cleared Immigration & Customs & was then directed to Thai Cargo to pick up the cat. Exit the car park, keep left & you will see the big Thai Cargo building on your left. Ask the attendant when you pay the car park fee as they keep a hand-out map sheet. Tell them Thai Cargo & they will mark it for you. It`s not hard to find. Park outside the building & go to reception. You must have all your paperwork. I was there at 4pm & was told to wait as the vet was not on duty until 7pm & arriving animals have to be inspected. At 9pm everything was finished & after paying 14000 Baht the cat was brought to me in his box on the back of a pick-up. A man bringing in 2 dogs on an earlier flight from Amsterdam waited with me. He had to pay 33000 Bt. I was concerned beforehand as it was my mother`s cat & I promised her I would look after him when she died but there were no problems & the cat has settled in well. Don`t let the cost put you off. I can recommend Pet Exports (Tim Hall) near Heathrow who handled the shipping. Also to avoid the wait it may be better to arrive on an early flight & mid-week. Check Thai holidays too.

Best to find an airline who will allow the cat to be carried as excess baggage.....will arrive at the baggage claim and then just need to go through customs. Cheaper and no need to go to the cargo area. See the pinned thread on this in Pets part of TV Forum.
