Rental In Singapore

Featured Replies

I might have a contract Singapore and i am wanting to know how much it costs to rent an apartment or house there per month.

In Singapore, the primary apartments are government flats and private apartments (which can be condominiums with facilities).

I suggest you try the popular property agent (eg http://www.era.com.sg/ERA/Rent/search_apt.html ) as your rental cost estimates. But the best is still the buy a copy of The Straits Times on any Saturdays, and there is a huge selection of calssified ads of rental and sale properties.

You might want to have this moved to the SE Asia forum.

Private condominium apartments start at around 2500 SGD per month. You will most likely have to pay one month agency fees and two months deposit. I know a very good agent. PM me if you want her number.

Government housing (HDB) is not available for foreigners to buy but we can rent. This site will give you an idea:

As rental prices have doubled in the last year or so, I decided to share. You can get a nice room in a condo with great facilities for about 1500 SGD. This site is good for flatshare:

Good luck

Singaporeans aren't renting, it's the expats and their companies who are paying these rates.

I can not say for Singapore - but for most of the cities I have lived -there seems to be two prices - for locals and for expats.

Generally the expat prices are double or more the going rate for the locals. Look around on the ground - can always find better deals. Try to get a local person to help you.

80% of Singaporeans live in government housing called HDB. Also its common to live at home until married and with a dual income. Singapore salaries are similar to European ones if you look at the after tax figure (as tax is very low)
