I was just informed by a tour agent that the Thai Immigration office a the Novotel Hotel, Swampyboom, is closed for 2+ months, renovations.

Can anyone confirm?  Got a friend who needs to do a 7-day extention on his 30-day airport chop today.  And the Novotel is a lote easier to get to than Suan Plu from out here in Thanyaburi, just hit the Eastern Ring Road, Hwy 9, and head south.  One hour.

Yep, closed until the 12th February....at least.

Go to Samut Prakam Imm office, near the Town Hall by the river, small office, nice staff and never too many people there.

Edit....They are closed for training but I suspect the staff are helping the airport crew as they seem to be over stretched at the moment.

Thanks, at least will save a drive in that direction.

Samut Prakan?  Ouch, I'd dread a drive down there and haven't done so for 12 years or more.  Almost almost rather go to Suan Plu.  Korat would be more pleasant, if the office there doesn't close up.
