A friend of mine has been told that her daughter has a problem with her blood. I'm told that this is the condition in Thai:

เม็ดเลือดขาวมากกว่าเม็ดเลือดแดง

Could some someone assist translating this for me. Thanks

literally it says : "more white blood cells than red blood cells". not being a doctor, i wouldn't like to try to pin a medical name on it.

all the best

In medical term it is "Leukocytocis" (the raised of white blood cell counts)

If

1) High number of neutrophil = neutrophilia

2) High number of lymphocytes = lymphocytosis

3) High number of monocytes = monocytosis

4) High number of eosinophil = eosinophilia

5) High number of band cell (immature neutrophil) = left shift

wow.. p'Bambi geng jang loey! :o

P.S. perfect translation by khun aanon, as usual :D

I don't know if it's related but many Thai people suffer from Anemia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anemia

If they people talk about this disease they say they have more white than red blood cells. I don't know if they use the correct description for this disease, but this is how they describe anemia in Thailand.

There seems to be a relation between the presence of malaria in a country (in the past and now) and the number of people that have anemia.

I am also not a doctor.

Being a doctor since I was 24 y/o and now I am 34. I have never heard about the sentence "more white than red blood cells" as anemia ..if we seriously look, "more white than red blood cells" is leukemia

and yes if somebody has less RBC ,It is anemia.

Having higher white blood cells than standard means you may have infection, toxicity, stressful and parasite or etc.
