Driving In Thailand

Featured Replies

Recently returned from Hua Hin where I have heard that you need an international licence to drive in Thailand.

Does anyone know if this is true and if so how you get one.

If you are staying short term an International driving license is needed. This is issued in your home country. In the UK for instance it is issued by the AA and The RAC...

If you are staying long term you can apply for a Thai License

Totster has summed this up nicely.

the only time u need a driving licence is if u have an accident, other than that u will have to pay the police bribes when they stop u, last time i was stopped going thru bkk on the expressway he said i was doing 120 km, i knew that was a lie, for the whole ride i didnt go under 160km, i tried to keep at a nice steady pace of 180km, but i still had to pay the bribe money, bl.oody thieving gi.ts :o

:D

Great advice from Snapper1 he is always advocating breaking the law. One of those Rumsuk cheap charlies from Cha Am. Glad he was banned hope the Admins etc take note of his IP address and ban him permanently.

Sda really only friend he had was deported for working illegally. Makes out he is popular on another site by replying to himself.

I cleared with my insurance company to use my international license and not a Thai one even though i was long term for driving purposes but not long term for visa purposes at the time (and so rejected by the officer as 'unable to apply for a thai license because u are a 'tourist'), so the term 'long term' doesnt always (as always) add up.

Don't forget that you need a Non-Immigrant visa to be able to apply for a driver's license in Thailand.

Halo. Looks like you're sadly wrong again....The deportee you mention is legally back in this country!

Dr Patpong....Halo=........Hinnam.....Cha-Am man....Yurko and various others!

Up2you.

up2you, sounds very interesting.

So what licence you got?

Axel...I was just replying to a comment made by Halo ( or whomever he is ).

As for my licence's....Dont you worry your little cotton socks about me!

I note that you obviously associate with the creme de la creme of society. Have you heard about dogs and fleas ?

dr pat pong. Sorry to inform you but, I do not associate with Khun Stuart. I know many people in Cha-Am and Huahin. I would never call them associates.

You on the other hand make quite a few missguided assumptions about people.

You're generally wrong!

I was stating the FACTS.

You really don't come across as any sort of genius yourself.
