Coventry man jailed for importing child porn

A Coventry man has been jailed for importing child pornography and illegal firearms into the country. Clayton John Fripp, of Lady Lane, Longford, was yesterday sentenced at Warwick Crown Court to 15 months in prison.

Judge Charles Harris also ordered the 46-year-old be placed on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.

Fripp pleaded guilty to two charges of importing a DVD containing child pornography, one charge of importing a DVD containing bestiality, and a further charge of importing a firearm.

Fripp first came to the attention of Revenue and Customs officers at Birmingham Airport on April 28, 2007, as he boarded a flight to Thailand. Officers discovered £56,850 in cash inside three envelopes concealed beneath silver foil in Fripp's hand luggage.

On his return to Birmingham Airport on June 5, 2007, officers seized a pornographic DVD from his luggage.

A subsequent search of his Coventry home and business premises uncovered a further three DVDs displaying paedophile and bestiality images, along with a large quantity of pornographic material. The search also uncovered a stun gun, two air rifles, one crossbow and two extendable truncheons.

Sentencing Fripp, Judge Harris said: "Purchasing this material provides a market for depraved adults to perpetrate the vile abuse of children."

After the hearing, John Theobald, senior investigation officer for Revenue and Customs, said: "We have intercepted cash linked to crime and taken the illegal pornography and weapons out of circulation."

Paedo in £60k Thai sex den bid

A vile paedophile was caged yesterday after trying to smuggle £60,000 out of Britain to buy a child sex den in Thailand.

Airport customs men confiscated the wads of cash after finding it stashed away in Clayton Fripp’s hand luggage. Then they monitored him as he flew off to “enjoy” the fleshpots of Bangkok. On Fripp’s return six weeks later a sickening child sex DVD was found hidden in his bags.

Further searches of his Coventry home unearthed three more disks showing sick paedophile and bestiality pictures, a huge stash of porn, a stun gun, two air rifles, a crossbow and two extendable truncheons.

Divorcee Fripp, 46, was jailed for 15 months at Warwick Crown Court yesterday. He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for ten years.

A Customs source later told how the cash had been concealed beneath silver foil in Fripp’s bags found at Birmingham airport.

He said, "It was suspected to be the proceeds of crime and was being used to buy a Thai home where there is little doubt Fripp would have acted out his depraved fantasies."

"Every penny was confiscated and returned to the public purse."
