There is plenty of talk on Thaivisa about Thai ladies only wanting Farang for money but it also works the other way around.

I have been out clubbing with a couple of Thai male friends quite a lot and we often get 'hit on' by the ladies. Telephone numbers are exchanged and the usual chit-chat is also exchanged but my Thai mates despair.

When the ladies find out where they work and how little money they get each month, they are soon rejected or the phone calls go unanswered.

So we Farang are not alone in being looked at and weighed up for our financial worth.

I would point out that both these Thai men have management jobs too and are not out there working in the fields.

I accept that this may not always be the case in both scenarios but it does go to show the 'desire' (for want of a better word) of the ladies and money / security and not just from us Farang.

Good point. And it doesn't just happen in Thailand. People are judged all over the world this way. Money means much more than people are willing to admit.

On a similar note right now there are people kissing the azzes of the wealthy all around the world. Everyone does it. They do it at investment companies, banks, real estate offices, restaurants, shopping centers, hair salons, care dealerships, resorts etc. Shoe shine, Mister? Or is it Master?

I don't, but i have found that guy's tend to generaly be insecure when they realise they have access to far less wealth than the female, they can also feel quite intimidated at the prospect of having to negotiate in a social circle that feels very alien to them and the up-bringing they have had.
