February 28, 200818 yr I need to send 50,000 baht over to the UK,whats the best, cheapest way? Western Union or from my other halfs Thai bank account?thanks for any advice As I was joking with my original post , I would certainly suggest that you don't use Western Union, as it is a pretty expensive way of transferring money. I think you will find that using the bank transfer (swift) is your best option.
February 28, 200818 yr Might depend on your bank and what they might charge you for wire transfer. It could be cheaper to do the Western Union (not likely). If you trust someone returning to UK, the let them hand carry it and then make the deposit.
February 28, 200818 yr forgot to mention that you may also be able to set up an PayPal account with your Thai bank and transfer that way to the UK. Look into it... Anyone done this??
February 29, 200818 yr I haven't done the PayPal thing and I'm very intrigued. However, my bank (Krungsri aka Bank of Ayudhya) charges 1150 baht for me to transfer money to Canada. That might be a lot, but it's very secure and is usually there in 1-3 business days. If anyone does have info about the Paypal idea, please let us know. BFD!

When ever I've sent money via a bank I've always had to produce a work permit as well before they would entertain the idea of sending money abroad.
