Senate election begins

BANGKOK: -- Thai voters Sunday go to polling stations nationwide to elect their 76 provincial representatives in the upper chamber.

The election started at 8 am and the polling stations will close at 4 pm.

Election Commission member Praphan Naikowit said after kicking off the election said he expected that the voters turnout would be about 60 per cent.

EC secretary-general Sutthipol Thaweechaikan said the unofficial results would be known by 10 pm.
