Repairing The Interior Of A Toyota Altis

Hello all,

First of all, let me apolagise in advance for what is quite possibly the most boring thread ever to grace Thaivisa...

Anyway, I have a 2003 Toyota Altis 1.8 Sport and the other day I broke the little plastic door to the small compartment in the centre of the dashboard. It appears the little plastic bits that hold the little "door" in place have broken, which means that it will not remain shut and all my CD's keep falling out :o

So my question; is it possible to buy replacements for interior parts for cars of this sort of age? if so where?

See I told you it was boring!! :D

Thanks!!!!

Hi :o

As it is a japanese car i guess you'll just need to go to your nearest friendly Toyota dealer, point at the damaged object and will have it fixed in 10 minutes for less than 500 Baht.

Unlike my Volvo where i had a very similar defect (hinge of glove compartment lid broke off), i took it apart myself and went to the Volvo dealer duly presenting the broken (small!) part and asking for a spare - "no have", the only way to get it is to basically buy the whole <deleted>' glove compartment for something like 11.000 Baht.

It's still broken three years later :D

Best regards.....

Thanh

How about an auto salvage yard?

Or- a used parts dealer. There arre a couple of places on Lad Prao road near our place that deal in used parts: engines, transmissions, taillights, body panels etc. I broke the fuel filler door off of Ms. Bino's old 1995 Lancer, and these guys actually had several in their shop. (It was a crappy design, and apparently prone to breaking, so they snapped up good ones when they found them.) They had one that was the right color- paid 200 bt. If you tell these guys what you want, they will go and scrounge the salvage yards to find it.

If you go onto the Srinakarin road just before Makro and under the bridge over soi 105 or onto soi both soi 105 and 107 on the Srinakarin side have a car interior specialist.

if you dont like the standard interior they can change it recently the one on 107 did a front electric seat conversion with armrests to a fortuner.
