Laptop Freezes

Featured Replies

Hello

I have a problem with 2 laptops that are doing the same thing. If I leave them unattended for a couple of minutes or so, then return to use them i find that is has frozen. I have had to manually restart 3-4 times before i can use again.

Recently i installed PC tools Spydoctor but this time with the addition of their anti-virus. I have had no problems with this software before when used in tandum with Avast.

Has anyone experienced similar problems, and or have any suggestion.

Many Thanks

Both are XP

You can try to roll back (using restore points) to a date before this began to happen.

I'll give it a go, thanks

Look at power saving features, the hdd might be powered down in a sleep mode and it takes too long to wake up - by then the user has assumed the thing is dead and hit the power button? (I used to do this with a slow IBM.)

Yep, try turning off all power saving features and see if it still happens. Could be some conflict with the power saving drivers. Turn off the screen saver too, same reason. These are the things that happen when you leave the computer unattended so there's a good chance they cause the problem.
