JuniorExPat
I just stumbled across this story and thought it may interest some people here: To celebrate 175 years of U.S.-Thailand diplomatic relations, United Airlines is offering a free upgrade to Business Class to customers purchasing full fare United Economy roundtrip tickets to the U.S. purchased in Thailand. The offer is being sold until May 20, 2008 only with return travel to be completed by May 31, 2008. The upgrade applies to the Tokyo-USA-Tokyo part of the journey only. United business class sucks...caparable to economy deluxe on most Asian carriers. And what, you don't even get the upgrade on the Bangkok-Tokyo leg...like 6 hours of the flight and the most important as one would probably sleep during the long Pacific crossing!! The "full-fare" economy price is likely very high too...EVA at about B 75k business would be a much better bet IMHO.
