Nuff Said
Curious to know the extent of the Ping river dredging project...how far south of the city so far? How much land lost? Any word that it will be discontinued? Currently the site of the work is about 50 metres south of Riverside Condominium, and is proceeding in a northerly direction (towards the city) at a rate of about 10 metres a day. The width of the strip of land 'lost' averages about 5 metres.
Sojourner
We, living at the Rimping Condo, heard we are loosing the small soi between the water's edge and our restaurant. I believe that would include the river bank between the Nakornping Bridge south to the pedistrian bridge also. I'd love to see it happen because that area crowds up with food vendors and people celebrating Loi Krathong every year while the rest of the time it's a real blight. john b good
At the rate that they are going (100 days to do one kilometre) it's not gonna alleviate the potential for flooding too much in the near term. The amount of land being lost is only that which has built up over recent years. If you look up /down stream from the Mengrai Bridge they need to cut the build up back a significant amount to improve the flow. It's a bit like painting the Sydney Harbour or Golden Gate bridges you finish and you need to start again.
