2 comment to that. 1) The airlines don't dictate Thai tax policy or law. They'll either comply, or they lose their Thai landing rights. No airline is going to leave Thailand for $9 a ticket and a simple system adjustment. Countries change their tourism tax rates all the time. 2) There's no reason they'd need to discriminate by nationality. They could charge everyone the same tax and Thailand could refund the tax to the citizens, at an airport kiosk or on their tax return. Just show your Int'l boarding pass. -

She definitely has a better voice than Taylor Swift. Did Lady Gaga dress like a stripper and act like a total prostitute in her early music videos? Yes, she did, she pretended to be a sex-pot and sell records that way, much like Swift, but more extreme, only to turn around and claim to be serious artiste. . Ironically Lady Gaga actually had more talent than Swift. And surprisingly only half of Swift's boyfriends, well 6 we know about, so probably 18. Anyway, we look at Mariah Carey and feel so very sorry for Pop divas. It's so sad when the looks go and nobody wants to know anymore. -

^ THIS! The airlines will only collect fees that are applied to all passengers. So Thais returning from overseas would have to pay too, if it was bundled into the airfare. If I recall correctly, this is the problem that derailed the fee last time. Thais do NOT want to pay to enter their own country and airlines will not apply different fees to passengers based on nationality.
