Cheapest/best Way To Hong Kong

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I am trying to hook-up with Virgin from HK-LHR-HK and need advice on the most cost effective way to get to-and-from Hong Kong from Bangkok.

Any help would be most welcome.

Thanks

I flew Emirates between the two cities, 7600 baht return, tax included.

I flew Emirates aswell, paid roughly 7,000bht back in August for a return. Unfortunately Air Asia dont fly to Hong Kong, although they fly to Macau I think??

No cheap airlines Bangkok to Hong Kong

Cheapest way is Air Asia via Macau, but you have the added cost and inconvienience of ferry to and from Hong kong and Macau.

I agree.

I have outlined an itinerary including your suggestion already, and it could take up to 48 hours to get to the UK. Total cost (using Virgin Air) including ferries, Air Asia (URGH) would be just short of 30,000.

Probably better to go EVA for around 40,000-43,000 from BKK and have done with it.

Thanks though for the input.

Orient - Thai...

or One - Two - Go same airline.

.....is the cheapest.

4,000 TBaht return.

+ 700 TBaht airport tax at Swampypool.

I forget the HKG tax

I have done it about 5 times.

Unlike Air Asia, no prob with food.

They give you a small...LOL.... snack and drink.

I've considered Orient Thai too, but as we're not travelling until December, will Orient Thai still be operating? Several airlines have fallen already & through 2008, I suspect more will follow, whilst OX could be one of them - Emirates wont, so I think I'll pay the extra for EK.

I've seen Sri Lankan £117 rtn & Kenya Airways £130 rtn on ebookers, but they don't fly on a daily basis & for our trip, would result in either a too long or, too short a period of time in Hong Kong.

Cebu Pacific have very cheap fares, but that means leaving BKK in the early hours of the morning for an overnight flight via Manila.

China Airlines are more expensive than Emirates & as for Thai or Cathay Pacific - more than double EK's fares. I believe cheap fares can also be found on Royal Jordanian & Ethiopian, but as I mentioned earlier re: UL & KQ - they don't fly on a daily basis.

I'm curious that no one has mentioned Hong Kong Express. I enquired about them in a previous thread & the only response I got was that it was difficult to book with them. Looking at their website, the procedure seems to be that you have to call/visit one of their offices. As it's very relevant to this topic, I'll ask the question again; has anyone used them before?

Last time I got a price from HK Express it was 25,000 return BKK-HKG.

They've stopped the Chiang Mai flight

Not so cheap then. I've just booked with Emirates anyway through their website.

I have been looking to do the same run and found that Emirates are about the best and cheapest way at around 7000 baht return BKK - HKK or you could fly Bkk to LHR with stop over in Dubai for about 31k baht return.

Have a play on there website for your dates www.emirates.com

2649 Baht single from BKK with orient air (part of or parent of 12 Go). Can't find the return fare without phoning them. Only one flight a day but some food.

http://www.orient-thai.com/promotions_hkg_en.html

5400 Baht with Air Asia return to Macau, plus HK$150 each way for the ferry, but 4 flights a day with no food.

5. All fares are subject to HKG & ICN security and applicable airport tax & charge

6. Upper deck or superior class surcharges based on seat availability only

- HKG OW = THB 2,000, RT = THB 4,000

- ICN OW = THB 4,000, RT = THB 8,000

7. Peak season surcharge: Nov 22,06 - Feb 28,07

- ICN OW = THB 2,000, RT= THB 4,000

8. Rate subject to be changed without prior notice

Thailand Tax collectable on tickets sold and issued on/after Nov06 and for travel from 01Feb07 THB700TS.

Return fare is in list.

Go to website and read very small print at bottom of page.

Go on, I give up.

I can only find the add ons and even then not all have a value.

How much is the return fare?

I hilited the fares in my post.

- HKG , RT = THB 4,000

Tax from Swampy, 700 Baht.

Tax ex HKG, $HK120.00, just under 500 Baht

I also like Emirates to HK

That's just the price for surcharges.

Unfortunatey, the Orient Thai booking page does not open.

Have a look at this site

Dates are just to get pricing.

http://www.orbitz.com/App/ViewFlightSearch...ge=interstitial

Select $214 + $108 taxes & fees = $322 per person

That's about 10,00Baht

This is an overnight flight.

I stay at Swampypool and get 1st bus to where ever I am going.

Not sure, but I think the shuttle and public buses run thru the nite, ya can check that.

35 baht to Victory Monument.

Check travel agent for Orient Thai flight.

It gets you into Honkers late.

Once more I stay at the airport, damned comfy too, get 1st bus into Honkers.

Many more.

I booked with Jordanian Air last week - B7500 return

I think Air Asia have just started a BKK - HK flight, or are about to in the next couple of weeks. Check their website for details.

Most promotion ticket of Air Asia have sold out. Their normal return cost are about 7000-10,000 Baht in 2008.

I suggest one "China Airline"

airasia site confirms. mmm, that's a new one on me. :o

I was considering going via HKG on the last UK-BKK flight I booked. I couldn't find a price (with a respectable carrier) HKG-BKK that would justify the route. air france/KLM UK-HKG are usually pretty reasonable (Im sure I saw approx £450 ABZ-HKG return inc taxes).

mental note taken for future reference.

Dont be the prat that I was.

Back in june decided to take quick trip to HK as treat for wife, last minute. Booked over internet with Air Asia, collected tickets at airport, arrived MACAO 11pm at night, waahhh.

Silver lining, the HK skyline from the macao ferry at night was incredible.
