Lousy Internet Connection

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm not an IT expert and would be grateful for advice on how a non-IT expert needing just a straightforward, reasonably priced, reliable, internet connection can get this for a condo in Bangkok. I currently have an ASDL service provided by True. Initially (claimed to be IMB speed) this seemed to work fine but recently it has been getting worse and worse in terms of reliabiity - it is constantly cutting out. Any advice in terms of likely cause much appreciated. If it is the service any advice as to how to get a better service without having to do anything to hi-tech or expensive much appreciated.

Best you define "cutting out". Loss of ADSL signal? Loss of data path? Trouble connecting to web sites? Domestic and/or foreign? Resyncs (going through the restore light sequence on modem)? Do you have phone attached? Splitter? Is phone line noisy? Are these a few minutes or several hour disruptions?

One simple thing to check is replace the line cord between modem and wall with another (from phone or an extra). Probably not the problem but it did make a big difference for me (line speed tested full for the first time).
