May 30, 200818 yr Did anyone try to subscribe with a credit card that is not issued in the US? I would rather pay this way then always getting game cards (or maybe not getting them because they are sold out or whatever)
May 30, 200818 yr I always find it best to use gamecards as after a few months I tend to get a bit bored and always forget to cancel the credit card subscription... paid for an extra a year of EQ once!
May 30, 200818 yr Did anyone try to subscribe with a credit card that is not issued in the US? I would rather pay this way then always getting game cards (or maybe not getting them because they are sold out or whatever) I set up my account using both my Thai Address and my Thai Credit Card... no problems. (Even though they claim to not support us in Thailand, they still accept our payments )

May 30, 200818 yr Wolife, Well I've installed it from the 2 DVDs Then when I launch the program I get "Fatal Error: Failed to download patch information file" Is this the same thing you had? If so please can you tell me what to do to be able to DL the patch (was it a True internet setting?) I've checked the localConfig.xml file and it is definitly the US version I have Cheers Ian
May 30, 200818 yr So you can buy AoC here, you can pay for it but you can't access the server? Someone needs to get hit with a blunt object (or sword). I wonder if Warhammer will be the same. Does anyone play on a private WoW server?
May 30, 200818 yr Checked the firewall and opened ports 7000-800 but nothing working To make matters worse Funcom have not even released a manual patch!! So have to use their patcher - which isn't working! Blizzard always release manual patches for WOW so why can't Funcom? Edited May 30, 200818 yr by Ian_B
May 31, 200818 yr does that error appear straight away or does it take a little while before it appears? I used to get that, but the patcher would sit there for about 5mins before it would give me that message, my problem was ISP related. If you want to test that, download a program called Proxy Switcher and try connecting via a proxy. Also, check in your install directory and look for a file called patchersetup.exe - if you have it, run it, if you dont have it, ping me on skype or PM me and i will send it to you. /Edit: I've got some blank DVD's and ive moved into my new place, if anyone still needs a copy of the EA client, send me a PM and i will burn a copy off. June 2, 200818 yr Ive installed, patched, logged on, and played without any problems whatsoever. My lag has been quite stable at about 300-350 ping, which hasnt affacted gameplay much. I took a TOS to lvl 15. The quests are nice, the graphics beautiful. It doesnt have the open-world feel that Wow does or the cool item setup. But the story is much more engaging, levels are easily gained. Havent tried grouping yet. I really want to find out how things are outside of Tortage. The free mount and bag only came with pre-order, not the Collectors Edition (which i have as well). I imagine the bag is very useful because I run out of inventory space quickly and have to keep dropping or go back to town every 5 mins. Added you Wolfie. A guild invite would be nice. Is there another evening downtime tonight?
June 2, 200818 yr At the moment a few time a week (2 or 3 seems about average) - but then the game has only been live for a couple of weeks... this is the norm for new MMO's in the first month (or two) - i imagine the downtimes will become less frequent (and shorter duration) as the game becomes more stable and the devs fix the immediate issues.
June 3, 200818 yr The problem I'm having with Age of Conan is definitely due to my old True home account I also installed it onto my laptop and tried it on the office True SME account and the game works fine Will contact True soon and get them to tweak my account to allow access to the game

I never thought of calling my ISP and complaining. My ISP has shown lag of 26,000ms playing WoW. When I ws back home in the USA - the higest ping I would have was like 150ms on my neighbor's WiFi.
June 3, 200818 yr The Ping isnt the problem, i get a steady 300-350ms in AoC (and WoW, LotRO, EQ2, PotBS etc) which whilst thats not ideal for PvP its very playable in PvE and only gives a slight disadvantage in PvP
