Banned Books Penalty

Featured Replies

Regarding the book "The King Never Smiles" - what is the penalty for possessing a copy of this book?

interesting question.

i would imagine a charge of lesse majeste would be brought with long period of imprisonment to follow.

How would one know it was a banned book......does the author recommend not reading it in the country?

The ultimate penalty for possessing a copy of "The King Never Smiles" should be to forced to read the thing entirely, cover to cover. Though it's premise is quite good (or so, they say) the book just keeps repeating itself ad nauseum. To understand the forces behind the coup, one would do much better to read this book than to read the Bangkok Post or Nation which just drum beat the militarist-Democratic Party line.
