May 16, 200818 yr The upgraded road #48 in Southern Cambodia is now complete as per news articles. All bridges and road improvements are done. Has anybody traveled this route recently? Has traffic increased? How long does it take now? Are there transport companys in service?(large bus). thx
May 18, 200818 yr Road was completed last January; at that time they had yet to install the spans over the river on the 2 center bridges. Traveled East again in April, all four bridges completed (except for finishing the sidewalks and side-rails on the center 2)and no-charge to transit.... ...however upon return (late April) they had closed the center 2 bridges (doing finish work)...crossing by ferry the only option. Yet, by now the center bridges must be fully completed and it should be clear sailing. A good road! Still little traffic when I was last there...Mini-vans (to/from PP & Snooky) but not busses...that has likely changed by now. How long did it take? It's about 140km from KKong to Hwy-4....how fast do you drive?
May 18, 200818 yr all bidges finished, driving time koh kong to sihanhoukville 3 hours 15 minutes is what it took me last month with no stops
May 18, 200818 yr I drove this Road 2 years ago (4 Ferries). At that time was only legal to drive at Province Kokong if you had a car with Thai License Plates. So you couldn't go to Sihanoukville legally. How ist it now? Can you drive to another Province than Kokong with a "Thai Car"?
May 24, 200818 yr Author What a beautiful road #48 that I just traveled on. This upgraded road makes the trip well worth it. $13 or so for a seat on large bus. About 4 hours. Aircon and pleasant. Only one company so far with this big bus service. Now a great way to go to Phnom Penh or Shinookvile. Happy trails.
May 29, 200818 yr Yes a great road. There are buses now from Sihanoukville to Pattaya. The road from Koh Kong takes about 3 hours by car, 4 by coach.
June 4, 200818 yr Author Not as easy or convient road from Pattaya to KohKong. You can go to Soi Honey and Honey Travel to get your ticket on mini bus from Pattaya to Trat. Then mini bus from Trat to KohKong. Two day trip unless you can team up with someone in KohKong in a taxi. Another way is bus #99 on Sukhumvit early in morning from Pattaya to Trat. JMHO Happy Trails,
