OnTheSnap
Does anybody in town play pool (8-ball, 9-ball, etc.- not snooker ) regularly (more than just the occasional game over drinks at a bar)? Are there any pool leagues or a group of players that get together (not necessessarily to play at a high level, but just for the expressed purpose of playing), and, if so, where? Ancient, weather-distressed bar tables just don't allow for a real game- there has to be something better somewhere.
simey
There is a bar league on samui - www.samuipoolleague.com. You could always go to some of the bars there to see if they need other players - usually monday nights. Several bars have very good tables, bar asia for one. leemond
There is a man named Paul " Les Gems des Les Brummige des Midlendes" Bryant who I believe is an incredible player based on Samui and undefeated on the SE Asia tour circuit (undefeated in Dudley too). He presents exhibition frames in Papa Joes and Sky Bar every night in Bang Rak and on invitation in Chaweng, subject to soberiety. www.ilovemenindresseswithlipstick.com

There is no betting taking place. People enter a contest and win a prize. The bars that do so advertise it in the open so if any govt official has a problem with it they'll know where to go. SamuiBond
Playing with balls can be addictive. Ask Ronaldo. Its not always about hitting the ball in the corner, try hitting a girl in the shadows thought she might suck it up...
