OK, my sister gave me some gift certificates to Itunes, but unfortunately my mp3 player only plays mp3s and not m4a files. I tried downloading something called quickmedia converter but it didn't install properly (probably because its vista )

So, does anyone have any ideas on how I can install this legally downloaded music on something that is not an Apple device? They are as annoying as MS!

Give this a try sbk - a program called bonkenc, dont think i am supposed to post links so just do a google for it and you'll find it - it's freeware and works well on XP - hopefully vista too, small install so worth a try. I've used this to convert m4a to mp3 loads.

Thanks Dan, I've used bonkencoder before and had forgotten about it. It worked perfectly, even on Vista. Appreciate the helpful response

Couldn't you just have used iTunes? Preferences->Advanced->Import, set format to MP3. Then right click on the files in question and select "Convert to MP3".
