you are selling a high value item e.g. car , property , etc. and the buyer pays with a cashier cheque issued by a thai bank.

usually after receiving the cheque the transaction is completed and the buyer is given possession of the goods.

what safeguards can be taken , other than waiting for the cheque to clear into your account , which might take a couple of days , to avoid being cheated with a counterfeit cheque?

are counterfeit cashier cheques common in thailand ?

Never seen or heard of a counterfeit cheque - never really thought to ask about that.

Any branch of the bank which the cheque is drawn on will be able to verify the cheque immediately. If you only have access to a different bank -clearing & immediate verification will not be possible.

Cheers. :o
