Easy answer dont accept the cheque, do an a direct credit in your bank account....problem solved...

Counterfit everything is common is common in Thailand.

Play dumb as a fox. Say you are a farang and only accept cash. Call the bank and let them verify it over the phone. Have his driver take you to their bank.

Never seen or heard of a counterfeit cheque - never really thought to ask about that.

Any branch of the bank which the cheque is drawn on will be able to verify the cheque immediately. If you only have access to a different bank -clearing & immediate verification will not be possible.
