loubrockbank
Has anyone seen a mk2 Honda CRX 1988-1992 in Thailand? I'm a big fan of them, and wish someone hadn't crashed into mine. Looks like this : http://www.honda-civic-power-locks.com/images/HondaCRX.jpg http://www.metricmind.com/images/honda_crx.jpg Or mk2 escorts? When we visited CM last year I saw a few mk1 escorts, but no mk2's I have one in the UK but will be selling it when we move. I know there are a fair few fords, anglias, cortinas etc, but I specifically want to know if an escort would be easily found and bought ? Thanks Its Dan BTW using Louises id Edited May 26, 2008 by loubrockbank

LivinLOS
I had one of those back when I was a teen and it was a great little motor.. 1.6 16v light.. Just the front wheel drive drawback but it was fun. Never seen one of those.. Seen a couple of the later model which I didnt like as much.
Dave the Dude
i'v seen a couple of Mk2 Escorts & Capri's around Issaan but they are usually fairly tatty. They are used as work-horses as opposed to 'classic's' in this poor area of Thailand. Never seen a CRX

loubrockbank
Ah ok thanks guys. I didn't think there would be any CRX's tbh. I'm more of a mk2 escort fan anyway. I know I'll regret selling mine that I have now. Dan
Disting
Mk 2 Escort in Buri Ram. Looks kind of long in the tooth though. Been by the side of the road for a while and havnt seen it moving. Dont think it would be much fun over here as I guess it wouldnt have air con.
ignis
The TENT dealers web site of BKK has a few For Sale at diffirent tents. Noticed last Friday a Burgundy coloured Mk 2 ‘Ghia’ at one of the big tent Sales at Bang Yai, and a white CRX
jaiyenyen
I've seen 1 or 2 mk2 Escorts around Bangkok. I saw a nice mk1 Capri today, and a mk1 Transit van with rear windows and seats. Both in good nick and both around Don Meuang. There is a Classic car club in Bangkok, but I don't have any details. I'm sure there would be a few Escort owners there. Cool, I'll have to see if I can join or go to the "meets". Hmmm a mk1 Capri!! eh? saw a Mk 1 Escort in Chiang mai, not in bad nick either.. Was it in the fire station? A white/cream one with a white grill? Looked in decent nick when we were there. I'm not just a mk1 fan, or rather I wouldn't have one unless it was "proper" ie. proper engine and suspension etc. Thanks again boys

monty
Had one of those first model CRX's as well, first one out with the V-tec engine a bit later if I recall, although I had the regular 16v. Over here, from that era, the Integra was the more popular model, especially the Japanese Type R (came out in 95) with the 195 HP engine (8400 rpm redline!) Murf
My mate has a few 2 door Mk1 escorts and 1 Mk2 4 door. But he doesn't have a book for the Mk2. Only Mk2's in Thailand seem to be 4 doors... I know where there is one for sale now, but it's very tatty and the guy wants too much for it. I settled on a Mk2 Cortina... I'm an Escort Man too, i have a Mk2 back home... But i will get an Escort here soon.
loubrockbank
The other 3 dont seem to have any.. No they have the other car the Ford Escort Actually , while I appreciate you finding those, the Excort I was looking for is about 20 years older than the ones in those links and far better My mate has a few 2 door Mk1 escorts and 1 Mk2 4 door. But he doesn't have a book for the Mk2.Only Mk2's in Thailand seem to be 4 doors... I know where there is one for sale now, but it's very tatty and the guy wants too much for it. I don't mind on the the whole 2 or 4 door business, I have a 4 door here and as long as I drive looking out the side windows then I'm don't mind how many doors it has Instead of tryiong to find a CRX , an Integra would be a decent replacement. Keep an eye on the Classic Cars of Lanna website or www.autonostaglia.info The serious club based in Bkk (tho national) is Classic Car Assoc (Thailand). Google them and have fun! loubrockbank
Hi Sol That was my long term plan to stick a 4AGE in an escort. Well done on the conversion looks clean. We will be in Phuket next week and staying there for the forseeable future but may move on. We will be possibly going to BKK a few times so will call you and come and have a looksie. I sold my car on Saturday and am missing it What sort of prices do mk2 escorts go for? I've seen a mk2 Cortina in the clasifieds which is 120kish. I won;t be buying a car for a while yet
hansgti
Dan. The mk2 escort was only available as a 4 dr here,no 2drs! no 1.6 engines either!, as such the 1.3gl was about the most popular, vinyl roof and all. Generally if they ever come up for sale 30k to 60 k they need a full rebuild and painjob at anything between 70k to 100k, i think thats a lot for a 4dr. Some other rwd cars of note would be the BMW 2002 2dr and the Mitsu lancer 4dr and 2dr versions,id love to buy one of each! Heres a lancer prepared for classic rallying! A bmw 2002 prepared for classic touring series at Bira and baen saen, id recomend going to baen sean to watch the racing festival this year, if you,ve never been or heard of it think of it like Monte carlo with the Monaco GP with cars racing on closed roads! loubrockbank
Very nice. TBH I think those prices are similar to the UK. Ive just sold mine way too cheap £850. It was tatty but had expensive brakes and suspension. Hopefully I'll have plenty of time when we are in LOS so a rebuild project might not be a bad idea. I have a few contacts in UK which I'll be dealing with and they sell parts, if I can't get them in LOS or Oz or other.... I'm sooooo glad there is a classic car scene, I would be lost without it. I take it there is plenty of rallying going on judging by the top one with its gravel tyres?
