I started with dynasat 4 yrs ago and have gone thru many changes in boxes and updating smart cards and now have a 7' dish with a dream 500 box and a 'newshine' box in series for another location. It' been mostly down lately with aguila's scrambling as well as weather conditions.

My vendor is now trying to sell me a whole new system that I can upgrade to a legal version of true's premium for a subscription rate of 300baht/mo using my adsl connected to my dream box.

His English [and my Thai] is not that good, so he was having a hard time explaining. I think he is saying that I will have to add some other piece of equipment in line [more baht] and subscribe.

Does anyone else out there have this kind of system and could you explain it in English that a low tech person can understand?? and actual costs??

does it use up much bandwidth, [will it slow downloads]??

and what happens when my broadband goes down as it does happen often.

thanks in advance.....

What he is talking about is card sharing.

The dreambox looks to a online card server for the decryption keys. Any time your ADSL system is down so is your TV feed. It does not use hardly any bandwidth, I have seen systems set up to do it over a cellphone GPRS.

It is of course illegal. Claiming you can get 'legal' sat packages by hacking the encryption is plainly absurd.

The people sharing the cards get the money!

Get one legal card, pay 1700 Baht/month for it, and then share with 50 people each paying 300 Baht for it.

Clearly illegal, and hence this discussion is closed.
