Can I Fly Into Bangkok On A 1 Way Ticket With Australia Passport?

Featured Replies

I want to know if I can fly into BKK on a One way ticket (ie with Air asia) from Australia? I might want to stay longer than a year and thus dont want to buy a return ticket as I might not use it. Can anyone advise??

thanks

tim

Do you have a visa? If you do; probably.

if on a tourist visa the airline will ask for proof of an onward or return ticket.

If on a multi entry visa not needed

If refused check in you buy a REFUNDABLE ticket at airport from Bangkok-cheapest destination as onward travel. Once you arrive in Thailand contact airline and cancel ticket and get refund minus small cancel fee. I had to do this with Qantas one time.

Hi Tim, I found it cheaper to buy a return ticket out of Brisbane and just not make the return trip back to Oz. This was a couple of years ago so things may have changed. All my flights to and from Oz generate out of Thailand now and I believe overall I save around 30% but to do this you must have the multiple entry visa.

I have used an one way ticket to come into Thailand several times. I have flown with Air Asia and Jet Star from Singapore. Never had a problem.

Same as doing a Visa run into Burma walk across the Bridge or just sit on the boat. I had 6 Tourist Visas Stamps in the same year. I do not know if you will get away 12 Stamps in a year.

Without a Thai visa he won't be uplifted out of Australia.

Yep, just get a visa and be done with it. :o

I came on a one way ticket 6 weeks ago. They asked about a return ticket at the airport. I told them I was leaving Thailand by train. In Thailand they just stamped my passport no problem

When I checked in last time from Germany with LH the guy on the next counter was refused because no onward ticket or Visa on hand. Some Airlines might be stricter than others but since you like to stay for a year or longer I'd say it's better to get a 1 year multiple entry, check with the Thai consulate what documents will be required

Fly via Singapore if you have a one way ticket out of Singapore No problems with Qantas. I always buy my Tickets SIN- PER - SIN. A lot cheaper in School Holidays.

I wonder what he plans to do for the remaining 12 months he hopes to stay in Thailand. :o
