Internet Woes

So, time to finally change my net package, it seems.

Been getting speeds like these for the last 2 weeks, on a 2.5mbps line:

My first thoughts are to go get a TRUE SME 2mbps line. Anyone has any better ideas? I live in the Ratchada area, if that helps.

Really desperate. :o

Do you have TOT? There have been reports in Bangkok Post Big brother is monitoring net activity causing delays.

If you are a gamer, my sympathies... :D

TOT? Erm.. yeah my attached phone line is from TOT.

And yeah, I play WoW, and I'm lagging like mad during raids. There was one fight in BT where I disconnected 6 times... *sigh*

Trying really hard to see if there's a solution in sight. Any clue if switching to the SME package will help?

Yeah I used to play WoW until the latency was so bad. I was accustomed to having lag once in a while but then it became ALL the time - I used Buddy Broadband - fine for internet but terrible for MMO. Yeah any place with lots of players can be particulary bad - especially raids with all the action. I don't have solution - I basically stopped playing WoW due to lag and account issues with Blizzard. If you have a laptop, I recommend finding a place in Bangkok with good WiFi - I used to go down to Ronny's Pizza on Soi 4 Sukhumvit and play WoW there on my laptop - one of the owners is a gamer/techie and introduced me to WoW.

BTW what server do you play on? Until you're net problem is solved I'd probably avoid any guild activities just out of embarassment and not wanting to get everyone killed in the Boss battle cause you dc'd. LOL - I loved the game but it was way too addictive.

I am only on a 1mbps connection. Professionals have told me that even with a faster download I am not guaranteed less latency in online games. But then they contradict one another too. My ping went from about 700ms average to 8000ms and hit 26,000ms once.

My paladin is stranded at 65.

My latency used to be ok until recently... With tunnelling, my average ping used to be ~240. A few nights ago, starting at ~4am, I can't even surf the net anymore, it's as if the DNS server died.

I'm causing my guild a lot of problems by not being able to play; my main is a prot paladin, and I'm a MT. :o I'm also on the Proudmoore server.

*sigh*
