Dirk_brijs Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Is there anything you can do against the yellow stains that form on my lawn when my dogs decide to take a leak on it? looks a bit strange those yellow spots in almost every corner or around every tree in my garden. Anything to spray on the grass to get it back up or????
LaoPo Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 There are three possibilities: 1. put a high fence around your lawn 2. Get rid of the dogs 3. train them like Marco does with his chaps Hup Holland Hup. Serious though: NO you can't avoid or have the yellow spots repaired other than new grass 'slices/cookies'. Better have the dogs trained NOT to pee anymore on the grass ! Check Martin Gaus: http://www.martingaus.nl/ LaoPo
Dirk_brijs Posted June 16, 2008 Author Posted June 16, 2008 how come it makes the grass die so fast though?? Is it the salt in the urine or what?? Cant rinse it away with loads of water or something??
MrSnrang Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Watering it down immediately will help if you can be bothered to do that every time your dog takes a leak.
Mighty Mouse Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 It's the nitrogen in the dog's pee that burns your grass. Buy a food additive or supplement that you can place in your dog’s food to neutralize the nitrogen in your dog’s urine. These can be purchased at pet food stores and veterinarians. Be sure to purchase a product that doesn’t alter the ph balance of your dog’s urine, as this can have a serious effect on your dog’s health. There is a product called dog rocks that you put into the drinking water and it neutralizes the urine.
greenmember Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I don't have a way to treat the grass, but think you might like to put some bottles of full water inside, the 1 liter kind, at the corners where the male dogs (I guess they're male) prefer. The bottles must have no label so they work like mirrors and dogs don't pee when they see these bottles. The minimart near here puts about 10 bottles around their building.
