I've just lost a dog that was i thought very strong and had years in her to tick fever. Having looked up on Google all about it, she was well into the 3rd stage of the disease which is very hard to treat.

I decided i'd not take a risk with my other 5 dogs (none of which have ever been in contact with the one that died) and would take them to the vets for a blood test. Two out of the five have been found to be positive and are now on medication. As i have caught it in time there is a much better chance that they will recover, they'd not even started showing any signs.

So just a word of warning to anyone with dogs, get them checked if they've had any ticks on them . I was informed by both vets that i've been dealing with here in Phuket that there are many dogs sick with tick fever at the moment and that it's a big problem here. My lot are now covered in Frontline so i hope i can keep on top of the situation.
