Bookshops Around Thailand

Featured Replies

Hello to one and all

I'm currently planning my next trip to LOS, probably next Jan/Feb, and in order to fill out some research I've been doing, I'd like to visit as many bookshops which cater to the English speaking market as I can.

So the question is, where are they located?

I've searched around a bit, but can't find any useful info........I know there's a fine little shop in one of the malls in Pattaya, 'cos I stumbled upon it last year. And, unless I'm mistaken, Ulysses G is involved in the books game up in Chiang Mai. So there's two ports of call for me!!

At this stage all I need are the towns - I can home in more specifically at a later date - so that I can try to map out a sensible tour of the country without too much back-tracking.

Any help would be much appreciated.

And for all you smart-a**es who think it's just an excuse to visit the country where I'd like to see out my days on this planet...........dam_n!! You got me sussed!! Nevertheless, it's always good to kill off two birds with the one stone IMHO.

And since this is my first post, a huge thanks to TV and ALL contributors for creating such a comprehensive and thoroughly invaluable source of information about all things Thai - well done!!

Thanks guys!!

In Siam Paragon in Bangkok (at Siam BTS Station) There are 2 stores:

One called Asian Books or similar and a other one bigger and cheaper, can't recall the name but in the same building.

My old mum also sending me frequently books, declaring them as Documents (in her opinion books are documents) and I never paid customs duty (sent from Austria).

it's called 'Kinokuniya Books' & a nice shop it is too..

In Chiangmai you've got Ulysses G with his Gecko's, 'DK' more or less opposite Mad Dog, 'Suriwong Book Centre' (the best) down Si Don Chai & 'B2S' in Central Airport Plaza

these are the ones i use.. :o

Excellent!! Many thanks for that, fellas!

Logically, I'm not likely to find many stores off the well-trodden (BKK/CM/Pattaya) tourist beat, but if anyone knows of any in, say Ubon/Udon/Chieng Rai, I'd love to hear from you.

Can't wait to get my butt back out there this winter........hopefully only another couple of years and I'll be out there with you guys on a permanent (!!) basis.

Thanks again for the info.
