Van Rental

Featured Replies

Sorry if this has already been asked/answered--I have searched but nothing of use came up--am hoping to rent a long-wheel base van, Commuter or similar, preferably with high-top, or semi, for personal use for about 3-4 days--don't need, want, a driver though at a push could tolerate one. Any ideas of firms which specialize in van hire?

I normally rent (well twice so far) from Master Car Rental opposite the Chiang Mai Immigration Dept. Slightly above THb2k per day. You drive on your own.

North Wheels seems to charge a lot cheaper. Look at link. but provided with driver. Some Green promotion thing going on according to their website.

Ruby Car Rental specialises in van rentals but also with a driver. I think the rates are fine.

So if you really need to drive on your own, (which i recommend would give you more flexibility), then go with Master Car Rental. Call them up and negotiate the rates. Good people!. Other rental companies you can try are Budget and Avis of course a lot higher rates.

The local classifieds circulations that you might find around town such as Chiangmai Classifieds, Chieb etc etc might list some individuals who rent out vans and at cheap rates but of course they drive.

Wow--TB, you're a star--cheers for the info, North Wheels, Hiace Hightop @ 1,620 Bt/ day with driver [ bit of a pain but can live with this] seems like a pretty good price, as you said.

Haven't had time to browse the other sites yet but will do--thanks a bunch for your help.

I've just gotten onto this forum and appreciate this info already posted. Saved a bunch of time already!

I want to know if anyone has rented a van from Ruby, North Wheels, or any other WITH a driver and how that worked out, what additional costs there are(driver's food, room, etc) any recommendations on particular drivers, etc.

I'm in Mae Hong Son and have a delegation coming for 3 weeks, they are looking for a 12 person van and don't know if they want to drive themselves or get a driver. Anyone have any experiences?

Thanks!
