siam legal in IT Complex, i think they have a new lawyer there now

thanks boater, but just looking at their website its clear that they have no clue what they are doing, especially with regard to property, local and tax law issues, same with sunbelt...they seem totally clueless. Guess there's not a decent firm on the island. Money is not the issue, just want a real law firm with real lawyers I can trust. Okay thanks all, I guess I will have to go to Bangkok.

what is a "real lawyer" ??? and what exactly are you looking for ?

its a bit like saying a "real doctor"... one that really knows medicine and is a specialist in "all" the medical fields...

a lawyer that has expertise in real estate will not be an expert in international mergers, and a lawyer that has expertise in taxes will not be an expert on commerce.

even the big firms in bangkok that have many lawyers and offer multi discipline expertise will usually be focused on one or two services.

from your above post it is difficult to understand what it is you are looking for and for what purpose.

do you need this lawyer to serve you a legal consultation on real estate, set up a business tax structure, or for international commerce?

if you need this lawyer to litigate for you (and a good court lawyer is not only knowing the law but mastering court room tactics and trial management )will this be in Thailand or related to another country?

In Samui most of the lawyers are like your local family doctor..they are good (some better then others) to handle standard cases on a daily basis but are not experts in all apsects of every field of the law.

those local lawyers that you seem to dismiss as "don't know the law" do "know" the system here... and are in some cases an advantage to the big wigs from BKK.

great...thanks Spock but this is not Star Trek, but I'll remember that when I am sitting in prison for following "the system" rather than the law.

anyone have a real answer to my question? I gather not, which is fine. I will go to BKK then to find some real solicitors. thanks all for the effort.

Joecoolsamui, that was a pretty harsh reply to Skydiver, he was only trying to help

As i mentioned, why not try Siam Legal or even pensit and law, as they have offices in Bangkok as well..........

But from the post, what exaclty do you want the lawyer to do?

once again ... instead of debating or answering in a manor that will contribute to the discussion you choose personal insults and abusive dismissive rhetorics :o

I can only hope for your sake that you don't use this type of behavior in real life and attribute your false sense of superiority and patronizing attitude to your anonymity in the forum.

this type of attitude and abusive remarks while conducting any type of legal actions in Samui will get you in a much worse position then in jail.

i think it will be wise on your behalf to learn a little more about Thai culture and legal system before you take any actions.

here in Samui and in Thailand the legal system if you approve or not works somewhat different then the west and its good to know the "system" and how to work with it... and not just read law books. (as any good lawyer in any country knows)

but then again why should you take any advise... you know best don't you :D

At any case I wish you the best of luck in BKK and helping your friend

Thanks Spock...have no clue what your point is but, great logic. Anyway given your advice, its rampant inaccuracy with regard to law, espeically your failure to actually document and support your assertions about the law with citations, and your failure to ever correct your inacccuacies...oh,....sorry AND your past and now again current advice toa actually break the law...I think I will find someone to advise me who actually 1) knows the law and 2) does not advise breaking it.

BTW: its not your "advise"...its "advice"...so, ya, you are correct...why would I take it and I DO know better than you, for SURE :D

Thanks for your well wishes...but at the same time I hope Scotty beams you up before anyone actually listens to you.

From this, are you a samui lawyer ??? as you seem to put down the more better lawyers on Samui but promote a few less reptable ones ?, also you are looking for an answer that has been answered for you but you keep it draged on ?

You seem that you are looking for someone to mention a lawyer for you to say YES they are great, which maybe your firm

Correct me if i am wrong

Okee Dokee, you need many "corrections" Boater:

First of all Boater, WHO is the "more better lawyers" [sic!] on samui??..that I have "put down"? (also "more better" is not good enough and not why or, for that matter, what, I asked in the post in the first place...I wanted GOOD...good anywhere...not just the best of what is available).

Second, how, exactly have I "promote" [sic!] "a few less reptable [sic!] ones" and who is it that I am supposedly "promote"[sic!]?

Third, what does my correcting Mr. Spock's English, for clarity's sake, like his horrible legal "advise" to others that may HURT them but that he touts as genuine withOUT, in ANY way, being accountable for it when someone is stupid enough to follow it...which is why those giving legal advice in most countries should and must be verifiably licensed and be accountable for doing so and why, if you violate that, you go to jail for unauthorized practice of law, because of the fact that when hacks like Spock advise on law and people follow it, people lose their assets and/or worse, go to jail...what?...Boater...do you not get about that?...what, does you assertion, have to do with anything that I have said?

Fourth, no, I am not and have NEVER been, thank you, "a Samui lawyer."

Fifth, and what about you, Boater, what is your interest in Spock and why are you supporting someone who trying to be helpful (I do recognize that and god help him and bless him...at the same time) but he is reckless in doing so and may well be hurting others?...what makes YOU so sure Spock is reliable?...have you ever checked his facts?...since he won't support them ....even in this forum??? Think about it Boater...unless you have some other reason for supporting Spock?...maybe he has a local firm?...maybe you work there?...maybe?
